When should I cut my child’s hair?

Whenever you want to! Your child does not need a haircut. Some children have more hair when they are born and begin receiving services in their first year. We’ve performed services on kids that are only weeks old! We have some kids that do not get their first haircut for years and who have long straight hair that might only need service every six months or so (don’t forget to come in for complimentary bang trims!). We have some kids that have a precision cut (for example, a “bob”) or a “buzz” cut that we see every few weeks. It is entirely up to you!

Do I need to make an appointment?

No, we do staff one stylist just to accommodate walk-ins, but we don’t want you to wait! Also, we want to make sure that the stylist you worked with last time is in and that they’re waiting for you. Even if it is last minute, give us a call!

Who is your best stylist?

Every stylist on staff at Snippet’s has a clientele that swears that they are the best. They are all excellent, but they do work differently. Ask your friends who they use! We will do everything we can to see that you are satisfied and remain satisfied on every visit. We will make sure that the stylist you prefer is available and that the chair is waiting when you come in with an appointment. Even as a walk-in, we encourage you to request your favorite stylist.

Why should I care who cuts my child’s hair?

Most of our customers go to adult salons where they have a relationship with their stylist. If their stylist were unavailable it is unlikely they would accept services from anyone in the salon. While the other stylists in the salon may be quite good, their stylist understands their hair and what they are looking for. At Snippet’s, we aim to build the same relationship. By working with the same stylist, a point of reference is developed and you can feel secure when sending the kids with other family members or friends that your stylist will meet your goals. We keep records and will make it easy for you to work with the same stylist on each visit!

What if my child doesn’t cooperate?

We will do whatever we can to make the service a success, but it is up to you to decide whether or not to receive the service. We have years of experience dealing with kids that do not want to get their hair cut and we can do it even if the child does not want it. If we ever feel that your child’s safety is at risk, we will stop. Ultimately, it is your decision. We have some parents that are willing to hold their child’s head so that a precision cut can be completed. It may not be pleasant, be we will not hurt them. We are used to working with children that squirm so while you might not get a precision cut, you will get a better cut than if you were to have someone else do it that is not used to it!

Does my child get a shampoo service?

Our service includes a shampoo at no charge. Most younger kids and their parents are satisfied with the hair being sprayed with water. Our staff will offer the service when they think it is appropriate. If you are not offered a shampoo service and you would like one, just ask!

Are appointments guaranteed?

We will have a chair waiting for you with an appointment or we will compensate you if we are more than 5 minutes late (rarely). We will hold the appointment for as long as we can, but we will consider it lost if you are more than 10 minutes late. We appreciate your call if you are going to be late or if you are not going to make it, but there is no charge for canceling at the last minute.

How long is the wait?

Our walk-ins are done on a first come/first serve basis. We do staff for walk-ins and can often accommodate walk-ins between appointments as well, but you never know when you are going to walk in on the heels of Carol Brady and her six kids! If you arrive one minute before her, you will not wait as long as if you walk in one minute after her. We will do our best to get you in and out, but there is always some risk involved in walking in. Please call when you can.
